Nikita the Spooky and A Circus of Men Album Release Tour
June-oct 2013

Nikita Tu-Bryant returned from playing at the Thailand International Jazz Festival with the Ed Zuccollo Trio earlier this year as the only New Zealand act at the Jazz Festival.
Now, one of Tu-Bryant's main pursuits is her cinematic folk band Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men.

Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men's music has been described as "symphonic poetry" - a five piece with the colourings of harmonised vocals, violin, cello, acoustic guitar, double bass and percussion instruments from around the world. Having released their Debut CD last year in April live at Happy E.P. with raving reviews (see Simon Sweetman's Blog Off The Tracks) they followed it up with their Debut Album Big Sur this June. With it, they also released their first music video for title track Big Sur, directed by Wellington's finest Ryan Fielding (you can view video on youtube/Big Sur/Spooky).

Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men's shows are always an atmospheric evening out, with haunting lyrics, and cinematic orchestration - they have played various festivals around New Zealand as well as the feature guest band at New Zealand's first Golden Carnie Awards this year.

Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men played a sell-out show for their Wellington release this June and are now taking their release show on the road.

Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men will be playing their show in your city:

Sat 31st August Wine Cellar/Auckland w/Paper Cranes 8pm $10

Paper Cranes:
Paper Cranes music weaves stories of love, loss, holidays, road trips, daydreams - and everyday life. Beautiful harmonies and instrumentation abound, with songs moving between delicacy and outright abandon. Lovers of folk music, Americana and interesting instruments (shakuhachi, ukelele, ocarina, harmonica) will enjoy their show. Their music has been compared to Fleet Foxes, Beirut, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Ryan Adams.

The EP Oh, Love! was released September 2012. They are set to release their debut album late this summer. Music can be found at papercranes.co.nz

* Paper Cranes will play the Auckland show with Nikita the Spooky and a Circus of Men as a 3-piece.
