No Lights No Lycra comes to Tauranga!

"this is a pure and spiritual experience, releasing that urge to shake and doing it without dealing with the social nuances of dancing in public”. - Greenpointers Blog Brooklyn NY

No Lights No Lycra is a dance night that was started in 2009 in Melbourne by unconventional dance students Alice Glenn and Heidi Barrett. There is no light, no lycra, no teacher, no steps to learn, no technique, just free movement. No Lights No Lycra is a place where you can completely let go and shake out the stresses of the week in a friendly, non-threatening, drug and alcohol free atmosphere. It’s a place to experience new tunes and revisit old favourites, a time to lose yourself in the music while working up a sweat. Through word of mouth the night has grown into a global community who share a passion for this experience.

The first ever NLNL is happening as part of the Tauranga Arts Festival

Local dance lover and teacher Ellie Lawler is the Tauranga event organiser and has prepared the inaugural NLNL for you at the new Incubator space in the Historic Village. Join her and the No Lights No Lycra way which has always been about finding other people who love to dance. Meet new people and and dance out the week's worries together. We’ve danced out sadness, stress and even fatigue and thrown our bodies around the room to the music that gets under our skin.
