Te Kōkī New Zealand School of Music hosts the annual NZSM Composers Competition.
A selection panel has chosen eight works from those submitted to be performed in this concert. The student composers are currently enrolled at NZSM and the works have been composed in the last 12 months.

The 2013 finalist composers are: Andrew Cole; Glen Downie; Paul Mathews; Reuben Jelleyman; Timothy Barraclough; Briar Prastiti; Jason Post; Flo Wilson; and Mo H Zareei.
The works cover the full-range of compositional pursuits at NZSM: from instrumental works to live electronic performances to a work for full gamelan orchestra and, for the first time, an interactive sound installation. The performers are a mixture of current undergraduate, and postgraduate students, alumni and local musicians.

Substantial cash prizes made available through the Lilburn Trust are awarded to both selected composers and student performers. The concert is open to the public – free admission.
