We welcome all members of the public, young and old, to come along and see what Pipe Bands are about and how you can get involved. The Open Day is being run in conjunction with a Wellington Region Development Pipe Band practise so there will be music to listen to and a band to observe. The Band practise will be followed by a BBQ starting at about 1pm which you are welcome to stay around for and ask questions of pipers and tutors.

Wellington Pipe Bands have an illustrious past, and have enjoyed much success and over the years. Today Bands can be seen participating in various community events such as the Christmas Parade and the ANZAC Day Dawn Service as well as competing annually at the National Pipe Band Champs.

If you are wanting to pay tribute to your Scottish heritage, or have an interest, or are not sure if you have an interest in the bagpipes or drums, then we would love to talk to you about learning the pipes or drums.

We currently have learner's programmes both in Newtown and in Tawa which provide a wonderful environment to start learning. We have some of the best tutors in Wellington and provide you with the equipment for your first term of tutorage. Whatsmore, Lessons are just $10 a night.

If you would like any more information then you can contact wither Marcus Boshier from the city of Wellington Pipe Band at, or Davey Welsh (Tourpiper) from Red Hackle Pipe Band at

We look forward to seeing you there.
