Play For Life is a Piano Marathon for Cancer.
88 keys, 24 hours, 6 dates, 3 cities and 1 pianist. Shaqaila Uelese is a Samoan/Maori pianist originally from Hastings, currently studying in Wellington. She's only 19 and wants to give back to those who gave so much to her family when her father was diagnosed with cancer. She's been volunteers as a Pianist at the Wellington Regional Hospital and now wants to share her music around as she fundraises for charity.
Her challenge is to play the piano for 24 hours within 6 dates in as many locations as possible within 3 cities - Wellington, Palmerston North and finishing in her hometown Hastings. No sheet music is to be used and she will be playing as per the requests of the public who donate.
The inspiration of this event is her fathers passing Moapi Uelese who died on the 3rd of October 2012. This is her tribute to him as well as two dear friends who recently passed Alexia Haenga and Hiraani Awarangi.
All money collected and donated online will go towards the Cranford Hospice in Hastings and the Wellington Cancer Society.
First Leg of Marathon - Wellington Waterfront - outside Tuatua Cafe (86 Jervois Quay)

At the end of the day we're all human, we all struggle, face trials and tribulations. For those of us lucky to overcome those struggles I believe we have to give back to those who gave us so much in our time of need - after all what goes around comes around - Shaqaila Uelese.
