Get your Gatsby Groove on with Auckland's Number One Band. Here's a message from their leader.

How are we today? Feeling salty? Wonderful. Sal Valentine here and I'm here to boost some info pertaining to and regarding Auckland's No. 1 band - my band - The Babyshakes. What is there to say? There's ten of us, we dig a bubblegum-pop kinda Rhythm and Blues, and we're awesome - I'm sure anyone who has heard us would agree. Keen. I guess you'd say it's jazz, although the band was born out of a heady discontent for much of the culture surrounding jazz. Head to any jazz club and you'll hear some mean s*** but I can almost guarantee you won't see anyone dancing. I wanted to take jazz, big band and rhythm and blues back to 'the club' so to speak - and it's working.

Myself and The Babyshakes have covered just about every goddamn game in town - indie festivals, balls, dive bars, dancehalls, town halls, Fuller's Ferries, major international festivals, minor local pubs, the high country in Christchurch. It's been a long sweet ride and it's only getting meaner - and by meaner I mean very soon we will be hurtling ourselves balls-first into the sweet clutches of the Tauranga Arts Festival. For one saucy night in The Pacific Crystal Palace we'll be pleasing and teasing til our tab runs out, and I would implore each and every one of you fine people to join us.
