Take back the Night rallies are held all over the world to empower and support survivors, raise awareness, and assert that it is wrong for people to live in fear of Violence
At this event there will be poems, karakia, speeches, music and lighting up the night with candles and glow sticks (provided).

It is not just an event for females, but for all members of society;as we all should be able to feel safe in our community.

The event is run by Girl Guiding New Zealand as an action for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts End Violence Advocacy Campaign.

This event will support survivors and remember the victims of violence
Reclaim the night as a safe place for all!

The Facts:
A violent offence is commited every 43 minutes in New Zealand

On average 14 woman, 6 men and 10 children a killed by a member of their family every year.
Police are called to around 200 family violence situations a day - one every 7 minutes.
