Auckland Youth Orchestra is proud to present a free lunchtime concert at St James Theatre, Gore.

The concert features highlights two mighty Russian compositions - Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 and Rimsky-Korsakov Capriccio Espagnol - alongside the virtuosic Czardas by Monti performed on percussion instruments and Saint-Saens' Havanaise for violin and orchestra.

Conductor Antun Poljanich directs the orchestra and will share the stage with soloists Laurence McFarlane (percussion) and Richard Chen (violin)

"There is not a single line in this Symphony that I have not felt in my whole being and that has not been a true echo of the soul."

"An orchestral piece with virtuoso instrumentation ... to glitter with dazzling colours."

"A piece rich in flavor with equal portions of lyricism and technical brilliance."

"It has the lilting, sultry character of the habanera, a tango-like African dance whose popularity spread first to Cuba, then to Spain."

AYO. Here plays the future.
