Recognise your strengths. Art transforms individuals and communities. Join us in a one day 'hands on' workshop led by the Learning Connexion School of Art and Creativity directors Jonathan Milne and Alice Wilson-Milne.

What if artists already have the key to change life’s circumstances, and what if this key could open the door to economic change?

Artists think creatively. We work with change and move easily between the big picture and details. Amazing things can happen when we shift this focus from our art to the wider world.

This flexible, creative thinking can be directed at economic goals leaving you with more time and resources to make art.

Artists are willing to experiment and try things that are important to them even when their ‘market’ doesn’t understand. We live with the risk of failure. Remember that at the beginning of every great period of art it was these ‘risks’ that upset the establishment and made way for a new form of expression.

Every one of us has lived in troubled times. The latest batch of troubles, like earthquakes, an economic crisis and coming to terms with global warming, are real and present dangers. They don’t go away when you close the studio door.

One solution is to apply ‘art thinking’ to your situation and once this is working try taking it into the wider world.

Artists’ courage keeps them at their craft, trusting their dreams in an act of faith. It is our courage that turns dreams into reality and makes life worth living.

TLC’s dream is to shift the official focus from STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) to STEAM, in which A is for art. We need to work with innovation to make it happen and this is what our workshop is all about.

Look forward to a challenging day where art and creativity lead into innovation. We will risk our own success, reframe situations, work with action thinking and explore real life situations.

We will design ways of thinking to build innovation into your life. You’ll take away a toolkit to put into practice. And it is fun!
