About Haunts
An idea arose to brush the dust from some older, bluesier TR songs - to test out our friend Jon Pearce's 8-track tape machine and get ideas for recording the second album we'd demoed. We headed North to Waipu, transforming Cass's childhood home into a temporary studio space over the course of three days. The material on Haunts is much older and has until now only been played live on the odd occasion.

Spunk Records is very pleased to announce a new set of recordings by Tiny Ruins. 'Haunts' is six tracks recorded live over three days, featuring Hollie Fullbrook on guitar and vocals, Cass Basil on double bass and Alex Freer on drums, with bowed double bass, snare, backing vocals and piano added in the late hours of the final night. Pearce and Simon Gooding mixed the tracks live into the old Neve desk at York St Studios, where Gooding also mastered it.

Among Fullbrook’s originals, Peg Leg Howell's ‘Rolling Mill Blues’ makes an appearance on Haunts, having entered her orbit on a mixtape from a friend in Montreal around the time she wrote the other songs.
