Be inspired by two of New Zealand's leading authors and artist, Karl Maughan.

Karl Maughan and Emily Perkins with Bruce Ansley
A Marriage of Words & Paint
How do two such different dynamic creatives survive and work in one family? Karl – known for his large scale, painterly, hyper real gardens. Emily – writing for global readers plus teaching NZ’s next generation of authors.

Witi Ihimaera and John Barnett
New Zealand Stories On Screen & In Print
Witi Ihimaera’s compelling and sometimes challenging stories open our eyes to understanding our cultural mix. He was the first Maori to publish a book of short stories and a novel. Through his own discovery of personal and cultural identity he takes us, his readers, and changes our perception of the world around us.

Chairman of South Pacific Pictures John Barnett has unreservedly put our stories on the screen, then successfully taken these to the world. Two South Pacific Picture films, Whale Rider and White Lies, are based on writing by Ihimaera.

Kiri Eriwata
Short performance by singer/songwriter Kiri, who crafts original songs in English and te reo Māori.

Sponsored by Collinson & Co and Vinstar.
