“Wine & Dine Flyer” Sunday 15th September 2013

It’s that time again! Another action packed steam excursion, smell that famous coal smoke, hear the whistle of the steam locomotive and see the steam! Treat that special man in your life with a special gift this Father Day, and book him tickets on this fantastic excursion!!! Or get a bunch of friends together, the family, a group of workmates and join us on a fantastic day out to the lovely north towns of Waimauku or Helensville. Relive the days of steam and enjoy the scenery and hospitality these towns have to offer. With demand for another heritage steam excursion, the Railway Enthusiasts Society, along with the Glenbrook Vintage Railway, in Waiuku are proud to announce this mainline steam hauled excursion behind the Glenbrook Vintage Railway’s heritage mainline carriages hauled by the very popular steam locomotive, Ja 1250 “Diana” also from the Glenbrook Vintage Railway.

How about booking tickets on this for a late Father’s Day treat!!! Enjoy a fantastic day out with the heritage train and travel through the now very modern Auckland city in 100 year-old carriages while enjoying on-board entertainment and listening to Glenbrook’s, Ja 1250 “Diana” up in front charging her way through the suburbs. At Waimauku, passengers are encouraged to book on the Settler’s Country Manor option, and spend the day with the folks at the Settlers, enjoying fine wine and a great meal with your family or friends. The Settler’s Country Manor is a popular location for weddings, filming and many other events, it has been restored and is now an awesome place for a nice Sunday lunch.

Those passengers, who do not wish to book on the Settler’s Country Manor option, have the opportunity to travel with us through to Helensville. While at Helensville, Ja 1250 “Diana” will be turned on the turning triangle, and will then be serviced and prepared by the Glenbrook Vintage Railway’s mainline support team for the run home. Attractions at Helensville include a massive model railway in a building next to the railway station, a old Railway Station Cafe, plenty of shops for shopping, lunch, gift shop and much more!

Avoid the disappointment of missing out, and book your tickets now for the "Wine & Dine Flyer"! Booking can be made to the Railway Enthusiasts Society on 09 636 9361, or on our website www.gvr.co.nz under the 'Excursions' link, or follow the Glenbrook Vintage Railway on Facebook!
