***Zen Garden Cherry Blossom Festival Postponed to 29 September 2013***

The Zen Garden Cherry Blossom Festival is postponed to 29 September due to late flowering and rain.

There aren't many flowers on the trees at the moment, only a few "woke up" in the last few days, there just wasn't enough energy (sun radiation) for the trees to absorb and kick-start the flowering. The
cold temperature and the rain (or possibly a storm) in the next few days won't helpeither.

It is always very difficult to predict cherry blossom. The peak cherry blossoming period is only about 3 days, we can try our best to estimate the period but the chance it lands perfectly on a Sunday is really by luck. More often we catch the beginning or the end of the blossom.

The Mother Nature has already spoken, it's not going to be this weekend. There is nothing we can really do except respect the decision made by the nature and follow its decision. And that's what Zen is about - be modest and respect the nature.

If you could not make it on 29th, you may ask for a refund from Eventfinda.

Thank you for your support! We look forward to seeing you on 29 September. I'm sure it's going to be a beautiful day!

Cherry Blossom Festival is a time honoured Japanese tradition of picnicking under a blooming sakura (cherry blossom) tree with friends and family.

Zen Garden, designed and built according to the architecture and gardens of Japan’s ancient capital Kyoto, offers the perfect setting for sakura. Tucked away in East Auckland's idyllic Whitford countryside, this private lodge is home to kauri forests, water features, Japanese gardens and sweeping hilltop views across the Waitemata to Rangitoto Island and the distant city.

Zen Garden Cherry Blossom Festival features a great variety of east-meets-west music, such as Taiko drums, Shamisens (Japanese guitars), bamboo flute and many other traditional and contemporary musical instruments. The festival also runs demonstrations and workshops on arts and culture, such as swordsmanship, martial arts and live paintings. Visitors are encouraged to participate in any of these activities.

The event offers a wide range of choices for food lovers – Japanese Teriyaki Chicken, Thai Green Curry, Sushi, Satay, just to name a few. All tickets purchased online including $10-20 worth of food vouchers, named “Zen Yen” -- a special currency designed for this festival. More food vouchers/Zen Yen can be purchased from the official “currency exchange store” at Zen Garden during the festival.

Come experience the ancient Eastern world right here in Auckland at the Zen Garden Cherry Blossom Festival!
