She has also recently performed Schumann’s Piano concerto with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Nicholas Braithwaite and recently gave her solo recital in Sydney, Australia. Other recent notable achievements include being awarded second place in the New Zealand Wallace National Piano Competition in 2013 and winning the Lewis Eady 2013 Emerging Artist Series. In 2011, she was also awarded the Prize for the Best Performance of a Classical Work at the Indonesian International Piano Competition.

At age fifteen, she was invited to perform for the Governor General. In 2013 at the Lev Vlassenko International Piano Competition, Sylvia was described by 'the most outstanding British Pianist of his generation' renowned concert pianist John Lill as: " despite being only 17 years of age, her playing is already masterful and authoritative. She is exceptionally gifted and already possesses highly impressive musical and technical command.” At the Wallace National Piano Competition, the Adjudicator- New Zealand's Premier Concert Pianist Michael Houstoun states: "Sylvia has a massive range and really the world is her oyster. It’s only a matter of time before she wipes everyone else off." In 2014, Sylvia applied and auditioned for four top music conservatories and schools in the United States of America, gaining scholarships to all four including top awards to the world renowned Juilliard School in New York City and the Yale School of Music.

In this concert, Sylvia will be playing a programme which journeys from the Romantic to the Contemporary eras, stopping in particular to visit the colourful sounds of New Zealand and Chinese music. The Program includes works by Chopin, Debussy, Prokofiev and Liszt.

All proceeds from this event will go towards Sylvia’s future studies.
