Wellington Youth Choir will be performing in Upper Hutt as part of their first concert series of 2014. First formed in 1989, the choir is known for its unique, exuberant voice and wide-ranging repertoire. The singers are university students and young professionals between the ages of 18 and 25, many of whom have been members of the New Zealand Youth Choir, New Zealand Secondary Students’ Choir and the New Zealand School of Music.

In 2014 the choir is led by Brent Stewart, who is currently Head of Music at Wellington East Girls’ College and Director of the Hutt Valley Orchestra. This concert series is of particular note as the choir celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2014, and the repertoire includes items performed in the inaugural concert series. The programme will also include a variety of choral favourites, such as Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei, Mozart's Ave verum corpus, Lux Aurumque by Eric Whitacre, and the famous American folksong Shenandoah.
