The third Akaroa Harvest Festival on Saturday April 12 promises to showcase even more of the Peninsula’s excellent produce.

Added to the programme this year is a classic cake auction to raise money for the rebuild of the Akaroa Hospital. This includes cakes from the kitchens of renowned chefs Peter Gordon and Richard Till. Cakes are also being made by the head pastry chef at the Sugar Club in Auckland, and the head chef at Bellota in Auckland plus the Akaroa Cooking School and Vangionis Trattoria & Bar in Akaroa.

Mussel fritters, crepes, berries, smoked salmon, olive oil, chorizo, lamb, cheese, and quince and local wines will all be available to taste and purchase on the day, and all from Banks Peninsula.

Live music, egg-and-spoon and sack races will add to fairground atmosphere of the day, while the “best jam” competition will be judged by Lou Bentley from the Akaroa Cooking School.
