We invite you to come along and enjoy our annual ANZAC Reflections at 2.30pm on Friday 25 April, in the peaceful and picturesque setting of the pavilion at Hamilton Gardens.

Anzac Reflections features a special programme of beautiful music and readings commemorating those who have given their lives in conflicts throughout the world, and reflecting on the effect war has on us all.

World Premiere: Cantando choir proudly premieres the specially commissioned work, A Call to Arms, by David Hamilton, one of New Zealand's most widely performed composers. The poetic texts set to music speak of “those who were intimately involved with the war” Its performance by choir, piano and baritone soloist creates a poignant musical experience.

The choir also performs For the Fallen by Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins. This setting of Laurence Binyon's famous ode honouring the war dead is a simple but stirring anthem.

Other significant selections in the 2014 programme are Mendelssohn's sacred choral piece How Lovely are the Messengers and Shackley's modern arrangement of the ancient devotional text Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.

Cantando choir is led by Rupert D'Cruze and accompanied by Melanie Lina. Soloist performers are: Clive Lamdin (Narrator); Clinton Fung (Baritone); Bill Stoneham, Hiro Kobayashi (Trumpet); David Woodcock, Emma Cardwell (Trombone)
