Come commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War with the Auckland Heritage Festival Open Day and Parade.

The parade will be led by the Royal New Zealand Artillery Band, celebrating their 150th year, and joined by serving troops, cadet forces and vintage military vehicles.

Starting at 11am on Sturdee Street, the parade will march along Quay Street and finish at Queens Wharf. The New Zealand Navy frigate HMNZS Wellington will be berthed alongside Queens Wharf, where a commemoration to the Kiwi troops who departed our shores will take place. Inside Shed 10 you will have the opportunity to take in exhibits, displays and other entertainment throughout the day, including a performance by the RNZ Artillery Band.

The Auckland Heritage Festival runs until Sunday 12 October, with more than 200 events across the Auckland region. Events vary from walk sand talks through to planting days and cooking on coal stoves and special First World War events and activities.

Have a lovely day out and see what Auckland Heritage Festival 2014 has on offer for you!
