Rnd 2 Top Half Midget Series + Bay Speed Six Shooter Nationals

This night could be best described as Bayparks Salute to Wide Tyres with visiting Midgets and contracted classes racing plus the existing NZ title trophy up for grabs for the fresh face of Speedway in NZ – The Six Shooters.

Unlike Phar lap and Pavalova Six Shooters were invented in Australia first but kiwi Speedway drivers have quickly adopted the class. Only a handful of tracks are able to contract the drivers as the class has not been fully inducted into Speedway community and Baypark sought permission from the SNZ Board of Directors to run the Six Shooters at Baypark.

Six Shooters or wingless Sprint Cars as the are called in Australia can be best described as Sprint Cars minus the wings with the 400ci power plants replaced with a 3.6 Litre fuel injected Holden V6. To ensure parity all vehicles are fitted with the same after market computer which limits engine revs and other performance enhancing options. A number of regular Sprint Car drivers and team owners have adopted the class including Keaton & Gordon Dahm, Colin Entwistle, Daniel Thomas with a number of others such as Rodney Wood and Jamie McDonald also trying their hand behind the wheel.

With drivers expected from all over NZ and possibly Australia the 29th of April has the makings of memorable closing night of the 2013 – 2014 Baypark Speedway season.

Other classes racing: Sprint Cars, Super Saloon and Stock Cars

A full event program is available for purchase at the Merchandise shop located at Gate 2 entrance.
