Considered one of the masterpieces for violin and orchestra, Beethoven's violin concerto contains moments of serene spaciousness, stunning virtuosity and poetic depth. Returning to perform this work with the CSO is the 2007 Michael Hill Violin Competition winner, Bella Hristova.

In a Southern Hemisphere premier, Australian counter tenor Tobias Cole will perform the Lycanthropy Aria from The Duchess of Malfi by German composer Torsten Rasch. In the opera, this aria is sung by the Duchess' brother, Duke Ferdinand, who believes he is a wolf. Powerful and provocative, this work was acclaimed by critics when it was premiered in 2010 by English National Opera.

Beethoven's 7th Symphony was premiered in 1813 and found immediate favour with audiences and critics alike. An orcherstral tour de force, the symphony bristles with energy concluding in a final movement full of jubilation, exhilaration and joy of life.
