The New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults are celebrated with a nationwide festival of events and activities that bring books alive for young readers of all ages. This colourful festival promotes the importance of books and reading, and provides inspiration for New Zealand’s future writers and illustrators.

The 2014 festival runs from Saturday 17 May until Sunday 25 May, leading up to the announcement of the winners at an awards ceremony in Auckland on 23 June.

The New Zealand Post Book Awards for Children and Young Adults are sponsored by New Zealand Post, supported by Creative New Zealand and Book Tokens (NZ) Ltd and administered by Booksellers New Zealand.

The Northland festival is sponsored by Whangarei Libraries, Storytime Award Winning Books and Toys, Making a Scene Voice and Acting Academy and Alter Ego Costume Hire Whangarei.
