Hawaiian-born Bruno Mars stepped into the spotlight featuring on hit singles McCoy’s ‘Billionaire’ and B.o.B.’s ‘Nothin’ On You’ and soon launched his solo career dropping his debut full-length album in 2010. ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ (Warner Music) – home to smash hits ‘Just The Way You Are’, ‘The Lazy Song’, ‘Grenade’, ‘Marry You’ and ‘Count On Me’ – the album received massive commercial and critical success, reaching five-times platinum in New Zealand and more than 39-times platinum worldwide.
Spearheaded by the chart-topping multi-platinum ‘Locked Out of Heaven’, Mars’ delivered his eagerly awaited sophomore album ‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ (Warner Music) in December 2012. A phenomenal hit around the world, the platinum plus album, currently #3 on the RIANZ album chart, has spent a remarkable 19 weeks in the Top 10.
‘Unorthodox Jukebox’ also features the platinum plus infectious hit ‘When I Was Your Man’, remaining 13 weeks in the Top 20 RIANZ singles chart.
Special guest Miguel hit the mainstream in 2010 with the infectious first single ‘All I Want Is You’, from his major label debut album of the same name, a song which blended a stark hip-hop beat with Miguel’s creamy vocals to form a sound that was absent from the radio and established Miguel as one of the most unique and soulful voices in modern R&B.
The album also features ‘Sure Thing’, which hit #1 on Billboard's Hip-Hop/R&B chart and second US #1 ‘Quickie’.
Miguel followed up on the success of ‘All I Want Is You’ with his critically-acclaimed, four-time Grammy Award nominated, sophomore album ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ (Sony Music NZ) which features his third US #1 hit single ‘Adorn’, the intoxicating ‘How Many Drinks?’ featuring fellow hip-hop star, Kendrick Lamar currently receiving airplay at Urban radio and ‘Do You…’ and ‘The Thrill’.
In 2013 Miguel was nominated for a total of five Grammy Awards. Lead single ‘Adorn’, written and produced by Miguel, garnered Miguel his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Song and resided #1 on the R&B/Hip-Hip Airplay chart for more than 23 weeks becoming the longest running #1 in the history of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hip Airplay chart.
