Celebrate life in Christchurch at the city’s first Holi celebration this March 23 at the Pallet Pavilion, 70 Kilmore Street.

This traditional Indian holiday is a day to forgive, forget, reconnect, and enjoy time with family and friends.

Holi is known for its vibrant powder colours that blanket people in the streets – so be prepared to get colourful! Anyone is fair game – it’s an all-out colour war!

The colours used at this event will wash off skin with soap and water but it’s best to wear old clothes. Wear white if you really want to stand out!

The carnival atmosphere at the Christchurch event includes DJ Areeb, DJ Charlie and DJ Avi, Bollywood performances and Indian drumming.

Participate in traditional games, including a tug of war and Matki Phod, where competitors make a human pyramid to reach and then break a clay pot.

The All Righties will be present to cheer the crowd on!

There will be plenty of activities for the kids too, including face painting.

Be sure to sample some Holi delicacies before you head home. Traditional Indian cuisine will be available throughout the day.

If postponed due to rain, Holi will move to Saturday March 29th at the Pallet Pavilion. Announcements will be made at https://www.facebook.com/ChristchurchHoli

Please note that the Pallet Pavilion is not high-heel friendly.

This event is brought to you by Revel Events.
