Comedy Allstars #1 at The BMC Comedy Club

With James Acaster, Sara Pascoe and Simon McKinney

New Festival Venue offers more International Comedy on the North Shore.
The Classic Comedy Club in Auckland City has joined forces with the Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna to create a brand new live comedy venue, the BMC Comedy Club, to be launched during the 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival featuring an All-Star line-up of world class comedians.

Local producer, Scott Blanks, intends to convert the conference and function rooms at the Bruce Mason Centre in to a comedy cabaret very similar in style, proportions and atmosphere to that at the home of live comedy, The Classic, which he has run for 17 years on Queen St.

And to kick the show off on Thursday May 10th he has invited three festival stars including James Acaster and Sara Pascoe from England, hosted by one of NZ’s funniest impressionists, Simon McKinney.

Acaster and Pascoe will both be appearing in the official Comedy Gala on April 25th as well as performing their own solo shows at The Classic and Q Theatre respectively.

The 2 hour show kicking off at 8:30pm will run for three nights – Thu 8 to Sat 10 May in the new 150 seat venue which is fully licensed and seated, cabaret style in the function room on the 1st floor at the BMC.

Also look out for Comedy Allstars # 2 at the BMC Comedy Club – Thu 15 to Sat 17 May at 8:30pm featuring Chris Martin from the U.K.,hosted by Kiwi expat, Rhys Mathewson who is returning from the UK Pro Comedy circuit for the festival along with other guest comedians.

Acaster: “one of the sharpest comic minds to have emerged in recent years.” – The Guardian UK

Pascoe: “Pascoe's lively mind teases out big questions with intelligence, silliness and self-deprecation to make a near-perfect show” The Guardian UK
