Concert At The Station

Sun 16 Feb 2014, 3:00pm–5:30pm

Where: Kawakawa Railway Station, 102 Gillies St, Kawakawa, Bay of Islands

Restrictions: All Ages

Listed by: Frank Leadley

This is an event which is unique in the world in which performers are on a railway station platform (the Bay Of Islands Vintage Railway station platform in Kawakawa), and the spectators bring chairs and sit among the railway tracks.

Programme is an eclectic mix including Cath Toomey (jazz and blues), Johnie Pedro (blues and reggae), Bella a Capella (womens barbershop), Casey Murray and Jim Bradshaw (country rock), Shelley and Ian (jazz and country blues) and featuring the young Kauwiti Selwyn - a 14-year-old Maori lad from Kaikohe who has an amazing voice and is singing light opera.

MC for the event is the Far North Mayor John Carter, who will bring his own brand of humour and excitement to the occasion.

There will be some great raffles, the Station Café will be open, and a good time will be had by all. Bring chairs, sun umbrellas, and a readiness to have fun.

Proceeds towards the restoration of the Vintage Railway.
