10 years of Cook Comedy - April's show is a very global affair with:

Alan McElroy
Winner: 'best Newcomer' 2010 NZ Comedy Guild Awards.

Alan McElroy is a professional stand-up comedian, MC, actor and writer from Dublin, Ireland. He has a degree in Media Production and Management and worked in live television for two years with RTE before emigrating to Auckland in 2010. Later that year, he was voted the Best Newcomer at the New Zealand Comedy Guild Awards and since then, he has become very busy on the pro circuit around NZ. His debut solo show at the NZ International Comedy Festival 2012 sold out 6 nights and an extra show was added due to demand. In 2012 he has been the warm up comedian for the television shows 'Would I Lie To You', '7 Days' and the live recording on Red Nose Day. As an actor, he has featured in ten adverts since arriving in NZ, including Tui, Xbox, Placemakers, AMI and KFC. He is a New Zealand resident.

James Nokise
As seen on:
Maori TV Waitangi Comedy Boil Up & Crack Up
TV3 Comedy Gala
Ben and Steve World Famous in...

A 2013 Fred Dagg Comedy Award Nominee and 2 time Billy T Comedy Award Nominee, Welsh / Samoan comedian, James Nokise, has carved out a reputation in New Zealand going after everything from gangs, to politicians, to stereotypes within Pacific Culture.

Over the last couple of years he's been to the Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals; guest lectured at Universities; been a member of the award winning Puppet Fiction (Pulp Fiction with Puppets) crew; written Wellington's most popular political satire series (Public Service Announcements); all while continuing to be a regular host at Wellington and Auckland comedy clubs, as well as a commentator for Radio Live and 531 PI.

Not bad for a bro from the Hutt Valley.

and your MC

Jan Maree
Originally from the Hutt Valleys foreshore paradise Petone, 2001 Billy T Award winning comedian Jan Maree has been described as a chauvinists nightmare and the thinking mans wet dream.

She has also been called other things, as seen most recently as a guest roaster on The Comedy Central Roast of Mike King, the first to be staged outside of the U.S. Exceptionally good at being herself, Jan won hearts whilst surviving on TV2s Island Wars and as a subject painted by Auckland artist Marty Welch for TV6s The Sitting.

A one-girl whirlwind looking for somewhere to happen, Jans quick wit and energy make her a most talented MC and live event host. Our regular MC at The Cook, Jan also hosts awards night events, proudly the MC three years and running of Aucklands AMI Showdown Awards, The ACTT Awards, Hamiltons Phoenix Awards and Taurangas Rocket Business Awards. Jan adds to that, as a capable and entertaining Wedding MC.

Not to go on about things, but Jan also runs JMX: the Jan Maree eXperience, touring comedy throughout the North Island of NZ which was recognised with the Presidents Trophy for services to comedy in 2009. To also take home the best female comedian gong that same year cements Jans ability to relate to any crowd in any venue and places her firmly in the premier ranks of kiwi comedy.

Jan Maree has gone on to carve an unusual niche: with her stand-up/cooking hybrid, she has fondly become known as the drinking mans Nigella Lawson. In 2007, she regaled capacity crowds with Eat Me, earning a nomination for Best Local Show at the NZICF Award, an award she proudly won in 2009.
