Every month the Discuss series will feature a new topic of high public interest, and aimed to generate animated open discussion in a circle guided and moderated by experienced specialists in the topic.
The series is organized by the Friends of the Library (FOL).
Some of the upcoming topics are: “The future of libraries” (7 June); “Let’s replace all prisons with psych hospitals”; “Our river – let’s get it beautiful, swimmable, drinkable, sociable”; “Matariki by Candelight” (with story telling), “The Best from Youth Space” , “I’m retiring soon – the transition”.
Bruce Thomson, a member of FOL, says, “Instead of just sitting and listening, we’ll get the lively person-to-person interactions we see in FaceBook and YouTube and Twitter – everyone sharing different viewpoints, constantly learning from each other.”
Saturday, 7 June at 2pm at 'Sound and Vision' on the Ground floor of the Palmerston North City Library
