Sir Earnest Rutherford was the first New Zealander to receive the Nobel Prize for Research. This documentary covers his early life and work in New Zealand at Canterbury College, plus his pioneering wireless telegraph work in England.
Dr John Campbell is a 'solid state' physicist who, for 30 years lectured in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Canterbury. He is the author of 'Rutherford - Scientist Supreme' and he runs the 'Ask a Scientist' programme which has resulted in 100,000 column centimetres of science in New Zealand newspapers. He has awards for communicating science to the public. His hobby is fire-walking!
