What is the Dunedin Model Train Show?
The Dunedin Model Train Show is an event that showcases the hobby of model railways. Supported by the World’s Greatest Hobby Program, the show is intended to introduce the general public to model railways in an entertaining, lively and family-friendly atmosphere. There will be two, maybe three hands on operating railways for children. The show hopes to create new train enthusiasts by exposing the public to the very best model railways has to offer. The hobby of model railways has a unique ability to bring the family together in activities that teach many skills. Model railway skills span from carpentry to artistry, from electrical engineering to historical research. Model railways are the World’s Greatest Hobby.

What makes this show different?
The Dunedin Model Train Show is not just any model train show. It is designed to be a premier showcase exhibition displaying the very best of the model railways from the South Island. Model railway retailers will be showcasing the latest products available and selling all types of trains and accessories. Everyone will enjoy the operating model railways.

What is world’s greatest hobby?
It is a first-class model railway exhibition designed to introduce the hobby to the public in an exciting, family-oriented environment.

What will you see at the show?
The show features operating model railroads and merchandisers displaying and selling model trains.

Is there anything for kids at the show?
Children will love the operating model railroads. There is an HO Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends train layout available to operate, as well as an N layout available for the kids run. We also supply small steps for the kids to take around the show to stand on to see the higher layouts. There may also be a new Thomas and Friends layout displayed.

Who should attend the show?
Everyone. For the serious modeler, the show has traders displaying the latest offerings in model railway technology. The non train enthusiast will find the operating model railways fascinating. Kids love the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends hands on experience. The newcomer to the hobby will be able to talk with those operating their layouts.

What are the show hours?
The show is open on Saturday from 9.30 am to 4:30pm and Sunday from 9:30am to 4pm.

How much is admission?
Admission at the show is $8.00 for adults and $1 children (being those under 14 years of age), with Family Admission of Two (2) Adults and up to three (3) Children at $15, enabling families to experience this great hobby.
