Popular artist and clothing designer visits Selwyn.

When the love of colour is mixed with texture and an inspirational meaning, the result is a stunning piece of art in the form of paintings, giftware and designer clothing by talented Nelson artist, Deanne Hobbs.

If it is not the new dress or clothing piece that Deanne is dreaming of wearing, it is the windy day poppies spreading their colours over her canvas, or the intricately designed modern vintage mixed media pieces.

Deanne’s pieces are described as having exquisitely feminine works with an undeniable flair for fashion and that showed through in popularity when Deanne’s solo exhibition at Terrace Downs Resort in 2012 was so successful almost a sell-out of the works on display.

Deanne is a talented creative and an astute business woman who owns Jellicoe Design, one of New Zealand’s most successful art and clothing Stores. Her artistic merchandise has gone global and is distributed throughout the world and her one of a kind clothing pieces are highly sort after and now available throughout many upmarket boutique stores in New Zealand.

Here in Selwyn we are fortunate enough to meet Deanne and see her works in person at Terrace Downs Resort for her exhibition titled “fashionably creative”. So if it is a love of fashion, food or beautiful things this exhibition is a must see that will not disappoint you.

Deanne’s exhibition opening is to be held on Thursday 13th February at 6:30 to be seated by 7pm priced at $49.95 pp and includes complimentary beverage on arrival.

Terrace Downs Art exhibitions feature a unique opening night where you are able to dine with the artists and enjoy great company, a delicious Buffet, prepared by Continental and wonderful music from the soulful Kris Trousselot on the piano. Bookings for the opening are essential. The exhibition is free to attend and will run from the 13th February – 27th March during resort opening hours (please check the Terrace Downs website for changes in opening hours).

The works will be available to purchase from the resort and online at
