Hawke's Bay is an amazing region for growing food, in this workshop learn how to store and preserve fruits and vegetables in a multitude of different ways to take advantage of seasonal gluts when prices are cheap. Learn about cold storage and preservation, preservation of food in vinegar, brine, and oil, heat treating food for preservation and dehydrating methods.

This course will introduce a number of innovative ways of using everyday household items to help you prepare food for storage. Learn where, when and how to source free or cheap food and how best to process it. We'll look at food safety, and sample items and examples of food preserved in a variety of ways. Preserved foods can make a delicious, economical gift for friends and family - sundried tomatoes, peppers in oil, dehydrated fruits dipped in chocolate... the list goes on.

Please note: This workshop must have a minimum of 6 participants to proceed. If there are not enough registrations for the course to proceed a full refund will be given.
