Every 90 minutes a New Zealander dies of heart disease. New Zealanders can help mend broken hearts by supporting Heart Week - the Heart Foundation’s annual appeal which runs from 10 to 16 February.

Thanks to New Zealand Post, which supports the Heart Foundation appeal, a giant inflatable heart will be stationed at no 1 Queen Street in Auckland on February 14 from 7.30am. Aucklanders will get the chance to test their fitness and show their support for Heart Week by taking turns at pumping up the heart and keeping it inflated. The heart needs to be kept healthy so fresh fruit will be given free to those who help keep the heart pumping.

From 12pm – 2pm special guest, double Olympic and world champion shot putter Valerie Adams, will be on hand to help pump the heart and sign autographs.

Funds raised during Heart Week will go toward life-saving heart research, programmes to encourage healthy lifestyle changes and helping people affected by heart disease.

Heart Week is proudly sponsored by New Zealand Post and people can donate in store at their local Postshop Kiwibank.
