Two transmedia gurus will discuss how the worlds of film, TV and interactive gaming and apps are coming closer together and what it means for NZ screen producers.

Hear how Hollywood IP holders view and manage their interactive licenses and transmedia apps, and how this could apply to NZ productions.

This is an opportunity for screen producers to meet New Zealand game developers who have produced movie and TV tie-in games for Dreamworks, 20th Century Fox, BBC, Lionsgate. We’ll also discuss how joint transmedia productions can work under the NZ Screen Production Grant.

About David S. Rosenbaum:

Los Angeles-based David S. Rosenbaum counsels clients in the video game, interactive entertainment, motion picture, television, publishing, licensing and merchandising, and amusement industries. David has a wide-ranging international law practice, advising clients from around the world in matters such as developing and publishing games and related technology licensing; mergers and acquisitions in the game industry; licensing of brands, character, comic book, entertainment and sports properties; film and TV distribution; and book publishing.
Prior to entering private practice in early 1993, David spent over twelve years at Paramount Pictures, where he counselled on a wide variety of legal matters ranging from production, marketing and distribution of motion pictures to licensing and merchandising of character and entertainment properties. In 1986, he was promoted to Vice President, Legal Affairs for Paramount's Marketing Division and was in charge of the legal and business affairs of Paramount's Licensing Department. Since entering private practice in 1993, David has represented leading publishers and developers of video and computer games, as well as property owners licensing game/digital rights.
David is a Co-Founder and current President of the Video Game Bar Association and is a frequent lecturer on legal and business issues in the video game industry. David is also a member of the International Licensing Industry Merchandisers’ Association (LIMA) and has both lectured and written about legal and business issues in the licensing and merchandising industry, including at the International Licensing Show.

About Dave Brevik:

Dave Brevik is President and Chief Operating Officer of Gazillion Games, holder of the Marvel Heroes gaming IP rights. This team are digital custodians of a huge array of Marvel/Disney's IP including the Avengers, and integrate their virtual world with the ongoing film, comics, toy, book properties in the "Marvel Universe."
Dave is also co-founder of acclaimed game studio Blizzard North. He was Lead Designer and Lead Programmer of the hit Diablo and Diablo 2 games. The Diablo series is now a billion-dollar entertainment franchise, with Diablo 3 being the fastest-selling PC video game of all time.
