Waitemata DHB is hosting the biennial walk which is run nationwide to raise much needed funds for orthopaedic research in New Zealand. Each year hundreds of New Zealanders benefit from orthopaedic surgery which includes joint replacements, and in 2012 more than 15,000 joints were replaced (hips, knees, shoulders, ankles, elbows etc).

The Wishbone Trust promotes and supports a significant amount of orthopaedic research and teaching, and fundraising events like this are essential. Funds are raised by recipients of joint replacements who are sponsored by family, friends and even strangers to walk 1km through North Shore Hospital grounds. Anyone who has had any of their joints replaced and wishes to support the Wishbone Trust is welcome. The enthusiasm of previous walkers and the generosity of their sponsors has always been fantastic.

There will be orthopaedic displays, light refreshments (gold coin donation) and spot prizes.

Come on down and show your support to the walkers and The Wishbone Trust! Walk the walk, sponsor a walker, cheer them on, or learn more about joint replacements.

Registration starts 9.30am, walk starts 11am
Bring sponsorship money on the day, or post a cheque to "Joint Effort", PO Box 28912, Remuera, Auckland, or deposit into The Wishbone Trust BNZ 02025600066920
If you are unable to participate, donations will be gratefully received.
