Slovak Cellist, Jozef Lupták is firmly rooted as one of the most prominent musicians in Eastern European music and arts.

This concert is a musical collage with cello works by Bach, Bloch, Tavener and Godár connected and interwoven by Jozef's unique improvisations using cello, voice and rhythmic devices. These improvisations include the performer using harmonic singing, beatboxing and accompanying himself simultaneously.

A graduate of the Performing Arts College in Bratislava and the Royal Academy of Music in London, Jozef holds the Award of the Minister of Culture and has been nominated for the Cristal Wing Award in Slovakia. The winner of the Cello Competition of Slovak Conservatories in 1986, Jozef was later awarded the Jury Prize at the Murcia Cello Competition in Spain, the BANFF Centre Long Term Residency Scholarship, the May Mukle Cello Prize at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Frico Kafenda Award.

His discography includes the world premiere of Vladimír Godár´s Music for Cello, two CDs of complete Bach Solo Cello Suites as well as his own project recording five new compositions inspired by Bach’s 1st Suite, containing unique improvisations using cello with his own rhythmic vocalisations at the same time.
