A unique collection of artwork celebrating the long history of Turangi Artworks will be on display at Taupō Museum.

Turangi ArtWorks Inc. is a not-profit-organization that encourages its members to share and develop their creative skills. The club can trace its beginnings back to the late 1960's over which time it has steadfastly retained the foundation of a strong Arts Community in the Turangi Tongariro region. Today, Turangi ArtWorks is stronger than ever with more than 60 members.

Club member Ken Proudfoot said ‘Kia mau ki nga mahi toi. Hold steadfast to creativity’ features fibre art, ceramics & pottery, painting, sculptures, photography and jewellery.

“ArtWorks members meet on a regular basis at their spacious rooms near the Turangi Town Centre to work together, share idea's, attend workshops, explore and develop their artistic skills and most importantly enjoy their art experience to the fullest,” he said.

Turangi ArtWorks – Kia mau ki nga mahi toi. Hold steadfast to creativity, is on display at Taupō Museum from 22 February to 25 March. Taupō Museum is open seven days from 10am to 4.30pm. Entry is free to children and Taupō/Turangi district residents with proof of address.
