Don't Be Lonely & Theatre Beating Presents

From Trygve Wakenshaw, the award-winning master behind smash hit SQUIDBOY, comes the highly anticipated new physical comedy, Kraken this 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival.

Last year’s critically acclaimed Squidboy took the festival circuit by storm, winning Best Comedy at Auckland Fringe 2013, selling out at the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Perth Fringe World; and Total Theatre Award and Artrage Theatre Award nominations. Kraken revives Wakenshaw’s singular style, using mime, mouthsounds and the imagination of its audience to create a “masterful...wonderfully absurd” (Fest) one-man show.

An idiotic, stormy, arthouse opera, Kraken is a stunning arena spectacular packed into a 60-seat venue. Oozing with whimsy. Dripping with charm. Leaking beautiful strange comedy. A dark and stormy stream-of-consciousness narrative about the fear of change and the ocean floor.

**** “It sounds mad, and it is. But in Wakenshaw’s masterful hands the audience completely buys into the physical and narrative laws of his world” - Fest

**** "Well-executed and charming physical comedy...a real and sophisticated piece of art" - Broadway Baby

**** “Impossible not to love” - Soundpond

**** “A one-man hour-long tour through silliness and surrealism, magic and mime, weirdness and wonder” - Adelaide Theatre Guide

“If you are a fan of Dr Brown...Don’t miss it” - Heckler

As part of the 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival in cahoots with Old Mout Cider, grab some mates and join us for a great night of laughs from 24 April - 18 May.
