Traditional Māori Kites

The flying of kites is a feature of Matariki celebrations – traditionally they connected the heavens and the earth.

This workshop at the Matariki Whanau Festival, comprises a small group instruction in the art of making traditional Māori kites (triangle design) using flax, toi toi and raupo

Suitable for adults only.

Class limited to 6 for hands-on experience, on first in first served basis.

All welcome to come and watch this demonstration of traditional skills.
