Bruch Violin Concerto in G minor, mvt. 1 is not on the list of repertoire of most intermediate aged violinists, but after nearly 8 years of regular trips to Wellington for lessons, Melanie Pinkney determined she was ready for it; her teacher, NZSO’s Donald Armstrong, giving her the all clear.
She will perform it in a full recital where she will be accompanied by Wellington’s Ching-Fen Lee.
Barely twelve, Melanie, along with Ching-Fen, will, together, also bring Beethoven’s Spring Sonata to life, as well as the final movement of Haydn’s Violin Concerto in G major.
The programme will be peppered with Kreisler favourites & other contrasting works to provide an afternoon rich in melodious music.
If you have never heard Melanie, come & check her music out – you may surprise yourself by taking a liking to classical music & even the violin!
If you have, take this opportunity to hear her in full flight with Ching-Fen. The pair work beautifully together and have worked hard to bring this programme to Manawatu Music Lovers.
