Mi-Sex are Back...

With classic 80’s hits like Computer Games, Blue Day, Castaway, But You Don’t Care, Graffiti Crimes, People, Falling In & Out, Space Race, It Only Hurts When I’m Laughing, the guys from Mi-sex have a back catalogue any band would be envious of.

After years working on ‘other’ careers, the core members of Mi-Sex planned to once again honour the pact they made with each other many years ago: "We will get together and perform at least a few times each year.”

Mi-Sex had swept the annual Countdown awards, charted hit after hit, including #1 with the prescient ‘Computer Games,’ their albums had gone platinum and the ‘House Full’ went up outside every venue they played. However, with the accidental death of former brilliant frontman Steve Gilpin in ’92, Mi-Sex had been put to rest and the lights switched off. The band’s resurrection only began after one of the Mi-Sex guys saw Balbi in the ‘Ziggy Show’ recently. Suddenly the lights clicked on and gradually came back up - now they’re now dazzling bright again!

The band, with Noisework’s Steve Balbi on vocals, proved they had lost none of the fire, passion and musicianship that propelled them to the top of the Oz music scene back in the day.

Just recently, Mi-Sex stormed through a weekend of gigs, one at the Cambridge Hotel in Newcastle, Dee Why RSL, The Bridge Hotel in Rozelle and finished off the run with a sold out show at the Brass Monkey in Cronulla. The shows were a critical and commercial success - after the encores were over, the word was out: Mi-Sex is back!

Jason Kerrison: MNZM 2012
Joining and featuring in this first Mi-Sex performance on New Zealand soil for over 30 years is Opshop Front-man and New Zealand's Got Talent Judge Jason Kerrison. Fans will see Jason returning to his acoustic roots, as he unplugs the guitars, puts the samplers aside. “Getting back to that acoustic vibe, three basic chords and honest three part harmonies. I ‘ve been working on dance and hip hop records, and even with Opshop we developed a processed, electronic edge, but its important to also feed that side of you that just wants to strip everything right back from its complications and just leave the organic simplicity of raw voices and guitars” said Kerrison. This Musician, producer, broadcaster, entrepreneur, dreamer and wannabe badass is on a mission to make you dance. Boogie down, knees up, Kerrison is ready to entertain you.
