2014 New Zealand FIM Speedway Grand Prix, Western Springs, Auckland
Date: 05 April 2014, Engines Start: 6pm

World Championship speedway is back at Western Springs as the famous Auckland motorsport venue welcomes the top 15 solo riders in the world on 5 April to contest the 2014 New Zealand FIM Speedway Grand Prix.

Guaranteed thrills and spills, with speedway’s elite competing for vital championship points in the opening round of the FIM Speedway Grand Prix series. Featuring current British World Champion Tai Woffinden and former champs including Australia’s Chris Holder, Greg Hancock from the USA and Poland’s Tomasz Gollob. These experienced racers will be looking to warn off the threats from the strong international rider line-up, all looking to put their marker down at the first event of the global series.

Over 2,500 tonnes of shale will transported in to transform the Western Springs track into a world class speedway racing surface. Speedway legend and three time world champion Ole Olsen will oversee the track build, with the help of Bill Buckley and his team in New Zealand.
