Japanese films shown at the University of Waikato are usually screened on the second or third Thursday of the month from 7:00pm.
All films have English subtitles.
Admission is free and booking is not necessary.

September film "Noriben"

Her life, Her recipe, a brand new start.
A heartfelt drama adapted from the comic of the same title by Irie Kiwa and directed by Ogata Akira that portrays the powerful struggle of a 31 year-old former housewife to open her own "bento" (boxed lunch) shop after returning to her childhood home with her young daughter.
Komaki is a thirty-something woman that has had it with her perpetually unemployed aspiring writer husband. Following the divorce, she moves back to her Tokyo-area hometown of Kyojima along with her young daughter, Non-chan. However, she has a difficult time making ends meet in big city Tokyo.
Her solution? Take a chance and try opening her very own bento (lunch box) shop.
