This year the New Zealand Doctors' Orchestra is presenting a concert in New Plymouth on Sunday 29 June - all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Hospice Taranaki.

The orchestra will perform a piece especially written for them by Auckland psychiatrist and established composer, Dr Louise Webster. The title "I never will" comes from a letter written to his parents by Archibald Baxter, a conscientious objector, when he was sent to the front line in World War I.

The programme will also include the first movement from Mozart's ever popular Clarinet Concerto, featuring Ryan Cha a final year medical student from Auckland as the soloist, Elgar's Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 and Brahms' Symphony No 2. The conductor is Mark Hodgkinson.

The orchestra, made up of 60-70 doctors and medical students from throughout New Zealand, meets and performs once a year, usually in a regional centre away from our large cities.
