Sean is an NZIPP qualified and accredited photographer. He spent the first half of his career wrangling computers which has been immensely helpful in the digital photography industry where good systems, equipment and workflow are vital to the success of any photographic studio. Sean's vast experience is much sought after by those who still think of computers as black magic.

Sean will share his knowledge and expertise in printing. This seminar will be relevant to those wishing to enter the Iris Awards as well as photographers printing regular production, day to day client work.

At last years Iris Awards, Sean helped two photographers win a category and a third to be a finalist for NZ Professional Photographer of Year. He can’t say that a good print will make a bronze into a gold. But it can certainly be argued that a bad print could make a gold image score bronze.

Some areas that workshop will cover:

- Selecting a printer (sheet/roll/width etc)
- Silver halide vs inkjet technologies
- Profiling monitor and printer
- Soft proofing
- Paper selection & considerations for awards & client work
- Mounting of prints for awards
- Technical stuff eg, dpi for best results, sharpening techniques
- Maintaining shadows and highlight details

The workshop will be a mix of theory and practical with a Epson printer on-site to do live product comparisons.

After attending this workshop you will:

- Be better prepared to print your own work to a high standard and stand out from the crowd.
- Save money as you will learn workflow techniques that will mean that you need to print fewer tests to get to the result you imagined.
- Likely enjoy greater success at the Iris Awards

A little more about Sean, his business, Evoke Studio in Papakura, is very will equipped and is able to shoot a range of photographic genres and also provides high quality printing for photographers and artists.

As a self-confessed gear-head, Sean excels in problem solving. He has a natural ability to fix equipment as well as finding out the best and most efficient ways to use and maintain it. His passion for anything computers and peripherals, camera's and accessories, studio's and lighting, printing and calibration systems makes him a perfectionist in every way.

As a photographer, printing his own images, as well as other peoples is a big advantage. He is able to understand the vision of the source file and offer advice on how best to translate it onto paper. Continuously trying to improve systems and building on years of experience is half the fun, Sean says.
