Te Kōkī, the New Zealand School of Music hosts Cellophonia IV, co-directed by Inbal Megiddo, NZSM Senior Lecturer in Cello and Andrew Joyce, NZSO Principal Cello.

The festival for cellists and cello-lovers is split into two main sections:

2: December 12, 13, 14 – a week-end of playing as an ensemble with more than 20 cellists, culminating in a public concert
Participation fees are $50 for the first three days, $20 for the Ensemble weekend or $60 to take part in both.

NB: Participants for either the three-day classes or weekend ensemble course should register by 5pm on Monday 17 November so that masterclasses, workshops can be planned and parts can be allocated and sent out. If you miss this deadline but still want to participate you will need to contact Inbal Megiddo at NZSM :

From December 10-12, participants will work and study with:
- Inbal Megiddo, NZSM Senior Lecturer in Cello;

- Andrew Joyce, NZSO Principal Cello;

- Ashley Brown, NZTrio Cellist

The timetable for these three days will in part be determined by the number of participants. Participants can work on particular pieces with these teachers in individual lessons, participate in or observe masterclasses, and work on ensemble repertoire that they will take to the weekend performance. Masterclasses will take place between 4 and 7pm Wednesday and Thursday and on Friday between 10am and 1pm. The fee for participating in all of this cellistic opportunity is just $50.

From the evening of December 12 through to the concert on Sunday 14, Inbal, Andrew and Ashley will join the 'week-end’ participants rehearsing and performing a selection of ensemble music for cellos. Players can be of diverse prior experience - ensemble parts are available for all levels of players. The weekend will culminate in a public concert in the Adam Concert Room on Sunday afternoon. The fee for weekend participation is just $20 which includes morning, afternoon tea and Saturday and Sunday lunch.

[Please note: cellists under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.]
