Ex-pat pianist Jeffrey Grice presents a concert of piano music including works by NZSM Alumni/Staff Jenny McLeod and Lucien Johnson. The full programme is:

Jeffrey Grice was born in Christchurch in 1954. After graduating in French and Piano performance from Auckland University in 1976, he was awarded a Queen Elizabeth Arts Council grant and a French government bursary to study in France with Yvonne Loriod and Germaine Mounier. A laureat of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation (1981), the Cziffra Foundation (1982) and the Sophia-Antipolis Foundation (1983), he also toured frequently for the Jeunesses Musicales de France from 1984 to 1989.

Jeffrey Grice has recorded in Europe for the labels Calliope, Erato, Integral Classic and Blumlein, in Japan for Sony Classical, Cosmo Village and JVC, and in New Zealand for Wai-te-ata. His career has also had a stage and movie sideline including an appearance in the 1991 French classic Un Coeur en hiver (A Heart in Winter) by Claude Sautet.

Jeffrey has premiered many works by contemporary New Zealand and Australian composers. He has performed with international artists like Alexander Markoff, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Shigenori Kudo, Anne Sophie von Otter, Maria Bayo, Sergei Leiferkus. In 1999, he was made an 'Officer of Arts and Letters' (Officier des Arts et des Lettres) by the French Ministry of Culture for services in the field of music.
