Eric Murray along with Hamish Bond, are the current World and Olympic champions and have been dubbed 'New Zealand's Golden Pair'. Since they joined forces in the coxless pair four years ago, they have never been beaten and have now etched themselves in history books, having had 16 consecutive international wins in their pair combination at the end of the 2013 season.

Eric has won four world titles (2009, 2010, 2011, 2013) and secured Gold at the 2012 London Olympic Games after taking six seconds off the world record of 6:08.5 in their heat.

Eric and Hamish won the World Rowing Male Crew of the Year in 2011 and 2013 and were Halberg Supreme Award winners in 2012. They have also won at Henley Royal Regatta in the international men’s pair event – the Silver Goblets – in 2009, 2010 and 2013. The crew is regarded as one of the great crews of the modern era of rowing. Murray is a multiple winner of the Waikato Sportsman of the Year award.

Despite a gruelling training schedule, Eric still manages to spend time with wife Jackie and son Zachary while continuing with a Communications degree.
