A unique collection of decorated, illustrated and illuminated pages and fragments from Persia, Turkey, Spain and Germany.

Each of these micro-art works is a one-off, with hand written text and hand painted imagery. Two
leaves are from Antiphonals, ancient European choir-books, and are made from animal skin. All works
demonstrate the book arts' characteristics of inventively integrated text and image: a European work
depicting the letter 'L' has a snail coiled on its top bar, while a Turkish miniature of a whirling dervish
has the figure's body composed of textual elements. Other imagery on these pages include decorative
motifs in Persian Korans, detailed seascapes in Turkish miniatures, figures from history and legend
and curious details from 19thc medical treatises.
