Those around you are the greatest show on earth.

Simon really is New Zealand’s finest impressionist and comes to Erupt with his most defining show yet.

In People, Simon brings to life an incredible array of characters born from the ‘everyday’ folk that have inspired him throughout his life and career. These folk and their hilarious faults and foibles, strengths and stresses (that we all identify with!) take centre stage. All these People, from the farmlands to parliament, from boat ramps to office buildings, Simon juxtaposes unlikely combinations and outrageous scenarios that see the characters interacting with each other, and Simon himself!

McKinney discovered his unique talents at only 10 years old, keeping his friends and family chuckling. Encouraged by his parents, Simon went on to build a career which has seen him perform all over New Zealand including a 2 year stint on the UK comedy circuit.

Simon’s previous characters have been celebrated time and time again by the New Zealand public. These include the ‘thank you’ lady from the supermarket, the old women at a rock concert, ‘that drunk guy’ and his celebrity impersonations including Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Queen.

Simon has appeared in numerous televised Comedy Gala’s, TV3’s ‘AotearoHA’ series, as ‘Rachel’ (Rhys Darby’s receptionist) in TV2’s ‘Comedy Christmas Cracker – The Work Do’, in TVNZ’s ‘New Zealand’s Variety Show’ and in TV2’s hit show ‘A Night At The Classic’. Simon is a Billy T Nominee, winner of the ‘Best Male Comedian’ Award was awarded the Reilly Comedy Award and by the Variety Artists of New Zealand.

20 years in the making, People showcases Simon’s remarkable talents with over 20 characters voices involved in delightful twists and hysterical transformations, turning them into the superstars he sees them to be. Be amazed at what could possibly be the largest cast assembled for a ‘solo’ Festival show ever.

Don’t miss this show. You could be in it!

“Look at these people around you, it really is the greatest show on earth” Simon McKinney’s Dad, c.1988.
