The Picton Pestival is an annual festival to raise funds for Kaipupu Point Wildlife Sanctuary. This year marks the Sanctuary’s first year of being open to the public.

To reach the goal of being predator free, ongoing funds are needed to help with pest monitoring efforts.

The Picton Pestival is a festive way to raise awareness and celebrate the return of native birds and flora to Kaipupu Point.

There’ll be plenty of prizes and entertainment for the kids. The Kids Zone with have arts, crafts and a bouncy castle. Kids can touch a Tuatara (thanks to EcoWorld) and get up close to a New Zealand Falcon (thanks to Marlborough Falcon Trust).

There will be a host of expert conservation speakers. And the Conservation Zone will have lots of interesting information on which birds and other native wildlife we can expect to thrive in a predator free environment.

Alt-country band, Shot Band (from Wellington), will be returning to share the stage throughout the day with Blenheim reggae group #Onestep. Picton’s Midge McLeary and Blenheim jazz pianist/singer Lee Stuart (placed first at last year’s SmokefreeRockfest) will also be amongst the lineup.

There’ll be a wide range of wild and tame food on offer from Bread of Life, Quest Catering, Gourmet Deli food caravan (Margaret McHugh), Col’s Baked Potatoes and Mr Whippy. New sponsors, Mud House wine will be there and there will be a cash bar with beer available. A guaranteed fun day out for young and old!

This year’s Picton Pestival is proudly sponsored by Department of Conservation, Port of Marlborough, New Zealand King Salmon, More FM and Mud House Wine.

Tickets: Non-members $10, Kaipupu point Members – free; and children entry by gold coin donation.
